Seasonal Threats
Do you find yourself sniffing, sneezing and itching your eyes a bit more since Summer arrived? You’re not alone. Many people have some type of seasonal threat they battle once warmer weather arrives. There is no reason you have to lock yourself indoors, behind closed windows, looking out only wishing you were enjoying Mother Nature.
Yes, you could take an over the counter or pharmaceutical drug to alleviate your woes, but what about the side-effects? Too tired to enjoy the outside? Do you feel a bit foggy-headed? Maybe you feel wired? Why not try a natural alternative? One only Mother Nature could provide.
There are many essential oils that can provide relief from seasonal threats. Lavender will help alleviate swelling and itching. Peppermint is known for opening up airways and can discharge phlegm and reduce inflammation. Lemon is a great decongestant that reduces mucous.
You can diffuse essential oils in a diffuser while at home. You can also apply them onto your pulse points (diluted), on a diffuser necklace or take them internally in a capsule as needed (Be sure to do your research on what companies have essential oils that are safe to take internally, the ones I trust are).
Besides feeling much better physically, you may also experience some wonderful side-effects such as feeling uplifted and refreshed.
Seasonal Threat Blend
2 drops each of lavender, lemon, and peppermint used as follows:
Under the tongue, wait thirty seconds then swallow Mix in 1/8 cup water and drink Consume oils in an empty veggie capsule Diffuse oils, apply to chest, clothing, bedding, or inhale from bottle Apply oils topically to forehead, cheeks (avoid eyes), chest, bottoms of feet (I always advise to dilute essential oils with a carrier (vegetable oil) when applying to skin in case of sensitivity and to lessen the effect of evaporation). Repeat as necessary
You can also purchase a pre-mixed form of the seasonal threat blend called TriEase in a handy capsule for when you are on the go.
I have to mention that when my boys and I eliminated foods we were sensitive to, our seasonal issues went away! And I do mean, they are gone. I struggled my entire life with having to avoid the outdoors I loved so much. I used to be on 2 prescriptions for allergies every Spring, Summer, and Fall.
My oldest son also needed something over-the-counter and was prescribed an occasional inhaler (which he could never use due to severe reactions). His symptoms are gone too. If you suspect this might be a root cause for you, I’d suggest trying an elimination diet.
So, if you are up to looking into dietary root-causes, please look at foods as a possible cause. In the meantime, enjoy the natural relief that only nature can provide!
